Bernadette or Camp Fatima FLSA : NON-EXEMPT SECRETARIAT: Catholic
Schools Office JOB TYPE: Summer Contract INTRODUCTION TO THE
DIOCESE OF MANCHESTER: The Bishop of Manchester is the visible
principle and foundation of unity in the particular diocese
entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s
mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian
Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs
suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people).
He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various
responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocesan
Administration Building helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop
in particular ways as outlined in the position description. All
employees of the diocesan administration assist the Bishop of
Manchester in serving the parishes, schools and institutions of the
Catholic Church in New Hampshire. INTRODUCTION TO CAMPS BERNADETTE
AND FATIMA: The Mission of Camp Bernadette and Camp Fatima is to
create a community where all are welcome. Guided by our Catholic
faith we provide a fun and engaging outdoor camping experience
where campers and staff learn new skills and grow in faith,
confidence, and friendship. This is a summer contract position
reporting to the Executive Director of Camping Services , under the
Superintendent of Catholic Schools . POSITION OVERVIEW: HEALTH AND
SAFETY: Ensure a healthy and safe environment for all campers and
staff. This includes health screenings and checking for health
risks. MEDICAL CARE: Provide first aid for minor injuries, assess
illnesses and respond to medical emergencies. Campers may need to
utilize urgent care, or the emergency room and nursing support may
be required for staff or campers to be seen by an outside provider.
DOCUMENTATION: Maintain confidentiality for all campers and staff
including health history. ALL documentation will occur in Camp
Brain. MEDICATION MANAGEMENT: Organize and dispense medications for
campers and staff according to policy. COMMUNICATION: Act as a
liaison between campers, parents, and camp leadership regarding
health concerns. Communicate specific health needs to staff
including allergies, special diets, and conditions. ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: CHECK-IN DAY RESPONSIBILITIES: Nurses
will arrive on Saturday afternoon. Orientation will be on Saturday
evening. On Sunday morning, nurses will meet with parents/guardians
to accept medications and complete the Medication Administration
record (MAR) with the parent. Nurses will meet with campers
arriving on the New York bus and complete the MAR. Any questions
should be addressed with a phone call to the parent. DAILY
RESPONSIBILITIES: Morning medications are distributed after morning
flag. Sick call is after the campers have had breakfast. There are
very few mid-day medications and are usually given after lunch. If
there are sick campers in the infirmary, the nurses work together
for coverage. There is a second sick call after dinner. Evening
medications are distributed after shrine. Nurses may engage in
activities such as swimming, boating etc. They are expected to work
collaboratively and to make sure that the workload is fair. Keeping
the Health Center clean and ready for use (clean beds) is a shared
responsibility. BERNIE FATIMA DAYS: Each session has 1-2 Bernie
Fatima Days. Nurses will prepare the trip box and any emergency
medications to travel to the opposite camp. They will be available
for their campers by walkie to assist with any camper issues. They
should plan to leave at the end of BF Day with the first bus so
that medications can be distributed on the return to their home
camp. CHECK-OUT DAY RESPONSIBILITIES: On check-out morning, morning
medications are distributed after morning flag. Medications are
pulled for campers leaving on the NY bus. A nurse is at the bus
with the medications, which are placed in the camper’s backpack. If
campers are going on the change weekend trip, emergency medications
and the trip box are prepared. When parents arrive for camper
pickup, they are greeted at the gate. Any medications are given to
the parent. Nurses who are leaving at the end of the session may
depart when campers have left, and the infirmary is ready for the
next session. ENVIRONMENT: Position is based at either Camp Fatima
for boys (Gilmanton, NH) or Camp Bernadette for girls (Wolfeboro,
NH). Must live on-site for duration of contract (excluding days
off). Requirements: This position requires the ability to: Work a
flexible, part-time schedule, which may include night and weekends
Occasionally lift, carry, or move up to ten pounds Reach at or
above shoulder level; occasionally reach below shoulder level
Manipulate equipment and controls frequently; Occasionally grasp
and handle Regularly sit, stand, and walk EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE,
AND SKILLS REQUIRED: NH Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical
Nurse License or Compact License Current CPR certification Work as
a team of 2-3 nurses Work collaboratively with the camp medical
director Understanding of and alignment with the Catholic mission
