Position Summary The Engineering & OpEx Manager is responsible for coordinating all engineering activities, including equipment maintenance, project management, and process validations to ensure that overall plant goals and objectives are accomplished. This position is also responsible for the planning of maintenance activities to support the company's objectives and programs. This position is also responsible for implementing and managing the Plant Cost Reduction Program. This will involve achieving very aggressive goals and putting the systems in place to meet those goals, while providing the guidance for project leaders to meet deliverables. Additional responsibilities include mentoring Six Sigma and Lean candidates, running process improvement projects, and assisting with training. What Engineering Management contributes to Cardinal Health Engineering Management is responsible for strategic oversight and leadership direction within the Engineering function Qualifications * Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in related field required * A minimum of 4+ years related work experience required What is expected of you and others at this level * Manages department operations and supervises professional employees, frontline supervisors and/or business support staff * Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals * Ensures employees operate within guidelines * Decisions have a short term impact on work processes, outcomes, and customers * Interacts with subordinates, peer customers and suppliers at various management levels may interact with senior management * Interactions normally involves resolution of issues related to operations and/or projects * Gains consensus from various parties involved Accountabilities * Responsible for the successful implementation of all Engineering projects in the creation and development of automatic, semi-automatic and manually controlled production machines, auxiliary equipment, or other items presenting new opportunities with materials, customer requirements, or product uses. * Observe existing conditions related to the problems presented and analyze needed changes to achieve increased production speed and/or eliminate product defects and waste. * Directs and prioritizes Engineering and Operational Excellence projects and assignments for completion by the appropriate personnel. * Manages the coordination and development of the organization's Operational Excellence deployment plan. Responsible for the development, coordination, and timely reporting of the facility's capital projects. * Coordinates process improvement efforts with the entire Plant Staff. * Establishes Engineering networks with other facilities, OEM, R&D, Marketing, and Corporate Engineering functions for new product implementation. * Establishes systems to document and maintain process validation and drawing compliance. * Oversees acquisition, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposition of building systems, production equipment, furniture, and equipment. * Assist in design, maintenance, and interpretation of meaningful and accurate performance measurement systems. * Manages the finances of the Engineering function, analyzes financial information, prepares and manages operating and capital budgets, and monitors revenues and expenditures to contain costs. * Ensure accurate time standards in product routings for machine capacity and labor requirements. * Leads plant improvement projects of significant size and scope. * Facilitate and lead cost reduction projects and Lean events to support the strategic vision with emphasis on education, motivation, change, and measurable results. * Develop training programs and systems for implementing and sustaining the Lean efforts. * Establish quarterly milestones and provide quarterly reports to management covering progress against the established milestones. * Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP and ISO), safety policies, and good housekeeping and that safety and hazard practices are understood and followed. * Coaches and mentors Black Belt and Green Belt and Lean Leader candidates to ensure timely completion of their quality and/or cost focused projects, ultimately leading to the candidates' certification. * Works to ensure Quality Assurance requirements are maintained. * Works to ensure regulatory compliance with pertinent outside agencies. * Responsible for the performance management and career development of direct reports and their subordinates. * Other duties assigned with or without accommodation.
