as the baby boomers age and the home increasingly becomes the

solutions. They are searching for a Payroll Executive to come in,
drive strategy, facilitate, lead the organization through change,
improve efficiency, and lead the overall payroll operation for
their $450M company. They are in expedited growth mode and need
someone who is willing to lead not only the strategic initiatives
but also the transactional processes. JOB SUMMARY: The VP of
Payroll leads the organization's enterprise-wide payroll strategy,
operations, and compliance. This role provides strategic direction,
ensures exceptional employee payroll experience, and oversees the
accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll across all
business units. The VP of Payroll partners closely with Finance,
HR, Benefits, IT and executive leadership to drive process
optimization and long-term payroll planning. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provides executive leadership to the payroll department, including
recruiting, developing, and retaining a high-performing team. Sets
strategic goals, expectations, and performance standards for the
payroll function. Leads, mentors, and develops direct reports and
fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous
improvement. Overseas departmental structure and resource planning
to support organizational growth. Develops and executes the
organizational payroll strategy, ensuring alignment with broader
HR, Finance, and operational goals. Oversees payroll operations
across multiple entities and states, ensuring all employees are
paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with all regulatory
requirements. Ensures integrity of payroll systems by implementing,
maintaining, and optimizing payroll technologies, internal
controls, and data management processes. Leads continuous
improvement initiatives focused on automation, accuracy,
scalability, and efficiency. Partners with Finance on budgeting,
forecasting, GL reconciliation, and payroll-related reporting.
Collaborates cross-functionally with HR, Benefits, Finance, and IT
to support business needs and organizational changes (acquisitions,
system implementations, compensation changes, etc.). Collaborates
proactively with HR, Benefits, Finance, IT, and other key
stakeholders before implementing payroll-related changes, ensuring
alignment and smooth downstream impacts. Establishes
cross-functional communication workflows to ensure decisions
involving payroll and the HCM system are reviewed, discussed, and
approved with all affected departments. Establishes and monitors
key performance indicators to measure payroll accuracy, timeliness,
service levels, and compliance. Oversee the implementation,
maintenance and review of payroll processing systems to ensure
timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including
salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. Acts
as the primary point of contact with the third-party payroll
vendor, providing final decisions, strategic direction, and
authoritative guidance on payroll system configuration and
functionality. Evaluates and approves all payroll system
enhancements or changes, ensuring alignment with organizational
needs before communicating directions to the vendor. Ensure
compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, hour laws
and best practices. Facilitate audits by providing records and
documentation to auditors. Presents payroll insights, risk
assessments, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
WHAT YOU NEED: Bachelor's degree Minimum of 10 years of payroll
experience Strong understanding of payroll tax At least 5 years of
leadership experience, managing a team and performance Experience
working in payroll for a company with a large non-exempt employee
base Must be able to work with high degree of autonomy and can make
decisions Experience working in payroll for a company with a large
non-exempt employee base ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Onsite 3-4 days
per week at Corporate Headquarters (Woburn, MA) Occasional travel
may be required to Care Centers Hybrid role – must be local to
Woburn, MA Compensation: $165k-$175k annually
